About Us

The Columbus Association of Black Journalists (CABJ) was founded in 1988 as an affiliate of the 3000 member National Association of Black Journalists. NABJ has 72 professional chapters, with 52 student chapters at colleges and universities nationwide.

Our first meetings were held in various public libraries in Columbus, including the Main Library downtown and the Linden branch. Later meetings were held at the Frank Hale Cultural Center at Ohio State University, the offices of the Columbus Dispatch newspaper, the offices of ABC affiliate WSYX-TV 6, and the Martin Luther King branch Library.
